Rory Mcilroy, Tiger Woods, The Beaver and you
Imagine you are Rory Mcilroy playing the last round of the 2011 Masters at Augusta with a 4 shot lead. Then at the 10th hole you hook your drive to the left in no man's land. You shoot a 7 at the par-4. It's over you lose the tournament.
Now imagine you are Rory Mcilroy playing the last round of the US Open Championship at the Congressional Golf Club 2 months later with an 8 stroke lead. He wins the 2011 US Open Championship with an unbelievable 8 stroke lead. A new record !
That means Tiger, you and me need golf lessons.
Seriously, what made the difference in his mind?

Do you flashback to the Masters? Do you replay the scene, the interviews, the bad shots?
What would you do? What would Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer or Nick Faldo do?
What's the secret to staying focused?
If you start to replay the inner game of your past experience, my friend, you are in deep into the bunker.
You need to take this golf lesson with you in your cart.
You flashback to the Masters in your mind. What can you do?
Quickly you literally dim down the lights on your bad experience and vividly highlight the thoughts, pictures, sounds and feelings of your best performances.
Push away that bad experience in the dark recesses of the universe. Render it so tiny in size that it disappears then make a bright, big picture of your great shots appear in your inner mind larger than life.
As you set yourself up for your next shot your mind and body is totally relaxed and focused on the ball here and now to hit a great shot.
Just like Rory Mcilory you focus on your routine and best practise shot...
and here's the key word....
Please check this out. And read this really, realllllly slowllllly ;-)!
How fast can this happen?
In 10 to 30 milliseconds.
That’s 1/100 or 3/100 of a second.
Are you thinking right now?
What can you do?
If you do it by the book, you’ll find out that you have to rehearse this scene over and over again until the neurons in your head are hard wired with this new lesson in your golf cart.
When do you start? As you’ll see, you do need to look like the Beaver and have a washing machine.
